Charles I Siege Shilling Pendant
A shilling of Charles I of England minted in 1648 at Pontefract Castle whilst under siege. King Charles I had coins like this minted in silver during the English Civil War. Cromwell's forces took the castle and executed the king the following year.
Obverse: DVM SPIRO SPERO (While I live, I hope) with royal cipher and crown, "CR" (Charles Rex)
Reverse: "P - C" Pontefract Castle, with sword in hand and date - 1648.
- Hot struck from pure .999 silver
- ~4.5-5g, ~30-35mm
- Solid sterling silver jumpring clasp
- Just like the original ancient coins, each is hand struck, so allow for slight irregularity and variance from the photos
- Each coin shipped outside of Canada is marked discreetly with a tiny punch on the back making it a legal 'replica'
