James I Tudor Rose & Thistle Halfpenny

HANDMADE REPRODUCTION

Beautiful English Tudor rose on one side and a bristling Scottish thistle on the other. James used these symbols on his coins to illustrate the "Union of the Crowns". For the first time in history, England, Ireland, and Scotland were united and ruled by the same king.

King James commissioned the King James Bible (KJV) and is also famously known for almost having been assassinated in the Gunpowder Plot - back in 1605 when Guy Fawkes tried to blow him up.

"Remember, remember the fifth of November,
The Gunpowder treason and plot;
I know of no reason why the Gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!"
