$25.00

Image of New England 'Pine Tree' Shilling 1652

HANDMADE REPRODUCTION

These are faithful reproductions of some of the first coins minted in America, which in 1652 was the colonial settlement of New England (Massachusetts). New England coins circulated the Americas along with Spanish colonial types, known as 'cobs' minted in South America. After the simple 'NE' coins, which were only minted for several months, they were replaced by 'willow tree', 'oak tree', and 'pine tree' types. This traditionally struck, pure silver pine tree shilling is an elegant artifact of early US history and early colonial New World numismatics.

The reverse is marked with the date (1652) and XII (12 pence= 1 shilling)
